Project Sashakt Showcases Traditional Handlooms at Bongaigaon
Humana People to People India’s Project Sashakt, in partnership with the European Union, participated in the Exhibition-cum-Sale organised by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026. Held from 30 October to 1 November at IOCL Township, Bongaigaon Refinery, Dhaligaon, Assam, the event was organised under the theme “Probity for Prosperity.”
Women entrepreneurs from Chirang, Kamrup and Dhubri districts showcased a diverse range of traditional handloom and textile products, including Gamosa, Mekhela, shawls, stoles, Eri silk products, bedsheets and other handmade textiles. The collection also featured utility-based products suitable for everyday use and festive gifting. The entrepreneurs recorded total sales of ₹1,24,380 during the exhibition.
The exhibition also provided an opportunity for women weavers and their cooperatives to connect with new customers, promote their craftsmanship and explore markets beyond their local areas. Direct sales and potential business linkages helped create opportunities to strengthen their enterprises and support sustained income generation.
Through its partnership with the European Union, Project Sashakt continues to support women-led cooperatives in diversifying their product range, expanding market access and building sustainable livelihood opportunities.
