Project Niramaya Trains 108 ASHA Workers
Humana People to People India’s Project Niramaya Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, organised training sessions for ASHA workers on breast and cervical cancer screening at Primary Health Centres in Paithan Block during October 2026.
The training aimed to strengthen frontline health workers’ knowledge and counselling skills to promote cancer awareness, encourage early detection and support women in accessing timely screening and healthcare.
The sessions covered cancer risk factors, warning signs, prevention, HPV vaccination, screening procedures, early identification and timely referral. A total of 108 ASHA workers participated, sharing their perspectives on the importance of raising awareness, addressing myths and misconceptions, and encouraging women to seek appropriate screening and care.
As trusted links between communities and the healthcare system, ASHA workers play an important role in helping women make informed health decisions and access available services. By strengthening their capacity to communicate accurate information and provide guidance, the training sought to support early identification and improve awareness of breast and cervical cancer at the community level.
Through Project Niramaya, HPPI continues to work towards strengthening community-based healthcare and promoting awareness, prevention and timely access to essential health services.
