Humana People to People India’s Project Swasthya Setu, Ballari organised a Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection Training on 28th July 2025. The training brought together 50 Primary Health Control Officers and 25 Community Health Officers from 17 Primary Health Centres, 2 Urban Primary Health Centres and 2 Community Health Centres across Siruguppa and Ballari Blocks.

Held at the District Health Office Training Hall, Ballari, the session aimed to equip the frontline health workers with the knowledge and skills to identify early signs of breast cancer and facilitate timely referrals for its diagnosis and treatment. The expert’s session was led by Dr Jagdish Tubachi and Dr Binu Biresh from Hubli Super Specialty and Vishwaaradhya Cancer Hospitals. The training dispensed information about the risk factors of cancer, its early symptoms, clinical screening methods and self-examination techniques of the disease.

Aligned with the Project’s broader goal of screening 1 lakh women, the training supported the efforts to raise awareness about cancer, promote self-examination and ensure access to Clinical Breast Examinations (CBEs). Through these initiatives, Project Swasthya Setu is committed towards enhancing early detection and improving health outcomes and the quality of life for women.
