On 18 July 2026, Dr. Pawan Sachan, Joint Director, SCERT, Uttar Pradesh, and Snorre Westgaard, Chief Executive Officer, Humana People to People India inaugurated the Computer Lab at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Pukhrayan, Kanpur Dehat. The inauguration was attended by government officials, DIET faculty, student teachers, and project representatives, marking an important milestone in strengthening teacher education in Uttar Pradesh.  

The Computer Lab was established by Humana People to People India in partnership with the Rural India Supporting Trust (RIST) and in cooperation with the Basic Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The facility will enable D.El.Ed. trainees and teacher educators to access digital learning resources, e-content, and online training programmes while enhancing their digital competencies. By integrating technology into teacher education, the Computer Lab will equip future teachers with the skills needed to create engaging classrooms with learner-centred environment and improve learning outcomes for children.  

The inauguration ceremony also marked the launch of three important knowledge products showcasing the achievements of the Kadam+ UP25 Project. The release of the Education in Action case story publication coupled with the launch of the project’s Six-Year Impact Report and the screening of the project’s impact film.   

Together, these publications put a spotlight on the impact of the HPPI-RIST partnership in strengthening foundational learning and improving the learning outcomes for more than 570,000 children across Uttar Pradesh. They demonstrate how collaborative efforts with the Government of Uttar Pradesh have supported government schools, strengthened teacher education, and contributed to sustainable improvements in the quality of education.  

The inauguration of the Computer Lab reflects the shared commitment of HPPI, RIST, and the Basic Education Department to modernising teacher education institutions, integrating digital technology, and equipping future educators with the skills needed to deliver quality education for every child.
