Project Niramaya organises a Visibility & Impact Event at Gurugram

HPPI’s Project Niramaya organised a Visibility & Impact Event at Primary Health Centre Garhi Hasru, Gurugram, Haryana on 7th February 2025. It was organised to enhance awareness about Tuberculosis (TB), Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and overall health and well-being. The event was enriched by the presence of Keshav Sharma (District TB Officer), Dr Anuj Garg (Deputy Civil Surgeon), Dr Priya Sharma (NCD Cell) along with Sanjeev Bhatt (Director, HPPI).
The event featured awareness stalls and interactive sessions where trained Health Accelerators conducted informative discussions on hypertension, diabetes, cervical and breast cancer, mental health and TB. Community members actively participated and gained valuable insights for prevention, early detection and treatment of these diseases.
Since the projects inception in May 2024, the Project has made substantial progress by screening 15,612 people for hypertension (with 2,062 cases identified), screening 9,653 people for diabetes (identifying 862 cases), screening 1,085 individuals for breast cancer (with 6 high-risk cases found), screening 1,085 women for cervical cancer (identifying 1 high-risk case), and screening 15,447 people for TB through verbal screening, leading to 160 presumptive cases and 71 sputum samples sent for testing. Additionally, the project has established 49 Women’s Health Groups and 46 Youth Groups, and organised capacity building trainings for health workers including 200 ASHAs, 60 Auxiliary Nursing Midwives and 60 Medical Officers fostering a strong community network for health awareness and support.
An experience-sharing session provided a platform for TB Champions, ASHA workers, and recovered TB patients for narrating their journeys, underscoring the importance of early diagnosis, treatment adherence and social support. Additionally, nutritional kits were distributed to Persons with TB (PwTB) to aid their recovery and strengthen their immunity.
