Project LEAD organises National Dissemination Workshop, Delhi
Humana People to People India (HPPI) organised a National Dissemination Workshop to discuss the practices and results of the Project LEAD (Leveraging, Engaging and Advocating to Disrupt TB Transmission) on 11th July 2024 at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hauz Khas, New Delhi.
Snorre Westgaard (CEO, HPPI) introduced the project and HPPI’s work which was followed by Jahangeer Alam’s (Project Coordinator, HPPI) presentation on key findings and insights of the Project. To get a deeper perspective, a few TB survivors shared their experiences on recovering from TB. Dr Bhavin Vadera (USAID, India), Venkatesh Roddawar (JSI India), Dr Aparna Chaudhary (Wadhwani AI), Dr KK Chopra (Consultant, NDTBC) in a discussion panel moderated by Manu Mayank (Head of Sustainability, HPPI) discussed their experiences and the way forward in ending TB in urban marginalised communities. Dr BK Vashisht (State TB Officer, Delhi) was the Chief Guest and gave the keynote speech. Subsequently, the Final Report on Project LEAD was unveiled by the guests. The event ended with Sanjeev Bhatt’s (Director, HPPI) vote of thanks.
Reflective of the multi-sectoral approach the Project took to present a scalable model to reach the marginalised people with quality TB services, the National Dissemination Workshop had spirited discussions among relevant stakeholders providing different perspectives to the project learnings and how to adapt them in the future to combat TB. The guests including the DTOs were gifted with plants to commemorate hope for fighting together to end TB.
HPPI is implementing Project LEAD among the homeless, migratory and urban slum populations in four mega cities: Delhi, Howrah, Hyderabad and peri-urban Mumbai, in partnership with USAID, TB Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA), JSI and the Central Tuberculosis Division (CTD).
