NeTT Barwani facilitates a STEAM Education Workshop

HPPI’s Necessary Teacher Training (NeTT) Programme at District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Barwani, Madhya Pradesh, organised a two day workshop under the theme STEAM or Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics approach on 7th-8th January 2024.
The workshop was facilitated by state team members, Dr Anil Kumar Jain and Dr Arvind Yadav, under the joint aegis of DIET and NeTT teams. The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding of student-teachers in integrating STEAM concepts into the teaching-learning process. Through an engaging presentation, participants were introduced to effective methods of linking science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics with subject knowledge to make teaching more dynamic and relevant. During the practical session, student-teachers were divided into nine Function Groups (FGs) and tasked with creating Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) on innovative topics such as submarines, coolers, solar ovens, well pulleys, matchstick volleyball, origami and more. In the concluding session, participants shared their learning experiences and showcased their practical creations, emphasising how the STEAM approach can foster creativity and enhance subject understanding in classrooms.
Humana People to People India (HPPI) is implementing the NeTT Programme in three DIETs in Madhya Pradesh in partnership with Rural India Supporting Trust (RIST) in cooperation with State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Bhopal to improve the quality of teacher training in the state.
