Aiming to sustain ground water resources
India’s looming water crisis could be averted by implementing effective planning and water management practices. Humana People to People India (HPPI) in partnership with Webhelp India is proactively addressing the issue with their Project Ground Water Resources Management.
The project aims to sustain existing groundwater resources through participatory processes. These include borewell users implementing appropriate water conservation and harvesting measures in Pataudi and Farrukh Nagar Blocks of Gurugram, Haryana. By empowering farmers and enhancing their awareness about groundwater and related agricultural practices, the project will develop strategies for future groundwater monitoring and management. Additionally, the project will work alongside Krishi Vigyan Kendra to provide updated knowledge on crops, high yield production and new tangible improvements in farming practices. This one-year project will also develop a groundwater recharge structure at a village pond through shaft recharge and a rainwater harvesting structure in a government school to sustain groundwater resources. Ultimately, the goal is to help the community in making informed decisions about their water use and contribute to the conservation of the water resources.
