HPPI and Macquarie Group Foundation partner for Girls’ Education
Humana People to People India is one of the successful recipients of the Macquarie Group Foundation’s COVID-19 donation fund. This grant will help secure girls’ education in five select districts in the states of Bihar, Haryana, and Maharashtra, enabling girls from disadvantaged communities to access educational opportunities.
Over the next two years, the project aims to mainstream 500 out-of-school girls into government schools, while also providing remedial education to 1,500 school-going girls in these intervention districts. The girls are from disadvantaged families whose parents are mostly migrant and daily wage earners who have been hit hard by the ongoing pandemic.
This significant support will help ensure that girls overcome the hardships brought about by the pandemic, and get a chance to attend school and continue their education.
The project beneficiaries include girls from the age group of 6 to 16 years of age and their mothers/parents. The direct beneficiaries belong to the most vulnerable sections of the society who belong to families of daily-wagers, rickshaw and cart pullers, construction workers, and others who are among the poorest of the poor categories.
