Enhanced TB Screenings in Delhi
Humana People to People India (HPPI) has established a crucial partnership with the Medanta Foundation, aimed at extending X-ray facilities to vulnerable hotspots in Delhi. In a significant step towards this initiative, the first camp was organised at Mansarovar Park on 24 January 2024. The camp successfully facilitated 49 X-ray screenings for TB, detecting abnormalities in 16 individuals. The project team is now set to provide further assistance by facilitating the collection and transportation of sputum samples from those identified for additional evaluation.
Prior to the X-ray screenings, the project team diligently registered individuals and conducted screenings for TB symptoms, comorbidities, as well as inquired about any previous history of TB or drug addiction. This comprehensive approach ensures a thorough understanding of the health status of the individuals involved.
Looking ahead, the project aims to incorporate the “Cough Against TB” application, an innovative tool designed to screen individuals based on cough sound, associated symptoms, and comorbidities. This step highlights HPPI’s and the Medanta Foundation’s commitment towards leveraging technology for a more effective and holistic approach towards tuberculosis screening. By embracing advanced methods and tools, the organisations strive to enhance early detection and intervention, ultimately contributing to the overall health and well-being of the communities in Delhi’s vulnerable hotspots.
