Humana People to People Indias’ Green Action Project – Biogas for Sustainable Energy & Environmental Sustainability has successfully completed its target of setting up 100 family-based Biogas plants in the Behror and Neemrana blocks of the Alwar district in Rajasthan by January 2023.

HPPI implemented the project in partnership with Webhelp India Private Limited in March 2022 to promote biogas plants for households in the Behror and Neemrana blocks. The project aimed at establishing 100 family-type small biogas systems in operational areas with capacities of 2m3 to 3m3 biogas per day by the end of February 2023. Since the setting up of the plants was self-financed, the people did not show enough interest in the beginning. Once the HPPI project team could convince one family in a village, the success and utility of this biogas plant increased curiosity among the other families. With continuous efforts by the team members and success stories of families who established the biogas plants, the organisation reached the target of setting up 100 family-based biogas plants even before the targeted time. Considering the success and benefits of biogas, Jyoti Yadav, the sarpanch of village Dausod in the block Neemrana, is planning to set up a public biogas plant. This plant will not only provide biogas to the families in the village but will also be able to generate manure for the farmlands.
