Artisan Card Distribution Event by DISHA Assam
DISHA Project, Assam organised an Artisan Card Distribution Event in Jorhat District on 12 August 2024. The event was inaugurated by Shashikant Gupta (Assistant Director of the Development Commissioner [Handicrafts], Ministry of Textiles, Central Government of India) and Sidharth Bortamuli (Marketing Superintendent of the District Industries & Commerce Centre [DICC], Central Government of India).
Out of the 325 entrepreneurs from the DISHA Project who applied for the Artisan Cards to the Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), 166 entrepreneurs received it during the event and the remaining will get it soon. The Artisan ID card enables entrepreneurs’ access to various schemes, including marketing support, credit, insurance and skill training programmes. Entrepreneurs involved in crafts like handloom weaving, bamboo making, banana fibre production and embroidery will benefit greatly from these cards; it will aid them in expanding their businesses, enhancing their skills and improving their livelihoods.
