Project Swasthya Setu organises a Breast Cancer Awareness Rally

HPPI’s Project Swasthya Setu Bellary, Karnataka in collaboration with Primary Health Centre (PHC) Tekkalakote organised a breast cancer awareness rally on 24th April 2025. The Project aims to establish a platform to support Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) and address the inequalities in breast cancer screening among medically underserved communities with the engagement of the health system, including empowered frontline workers and community engagement activities.
During the awareness rally, Dr Arun Kumar (Medical Officer, PHC Tekkalakote) explained how abnormal growth in breast ducts or tissues can lead to cancer, emphasising that early detection is key to effective treatment and recovery. The event also saw the participation of 50 other people including government officials, ASHA workers, community members and the Project staff.
Humana People to People India is implementing the Project Swasthya Setu to enhance community awareness by screening 200,000 women and building the capacity of 1,000 ASHA workers for early detection of breast cancer in Bellary district of Karnataka and Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh.
