Humana People to People India’s Project Sashakt, supported by the European Union, participated in Bharat Tex 2026, India’s flagship global textile event, held from 14 to 17 July 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event provided an international platform for women-led handloom cooperatives from Assam to showcase their handloom products, connect with industry stakeholders, and explore new market opportunities.

Representing the rich weaving traditions of Dhubri, Chirang, and Kamrup districts, the cooperatives exhibited a diverse collection of handwoven textiles and handcrafted products that reflected Assam’s vibrant cultural heritage, traditional skills, and contemporary craftsmanship.

Participation in Bharat Tex 2026 enabled the women artisans and cooperative representatives to engage with buyers, designers, retailers, and textile professionals from across India and around the world. These interactions created opportunities to establish new business partnerships, understand emerging market trends and consumer preferences, and strengthen their entrepreneurial capacities for long-term business growth.

For many of the participating cooperatives, the exhibition was more than an opportunity to display their products—it was a platform to share the stories, traditions, and skills behind every weave while demonstrating the economic potential of community-led handloom enterprises.

Through Project Sashakt, Humana People to People India is working to strengthen women-led handloom cooperatives in Assam by building their institutional capacity, enhancing product quality, improving market access, and supporting sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The participation at Bharat Tex 2026 reflects the shared commitment of Humana People to People India and the European Union to promoting women’s economic empowerment, preserving Assam’s rich handloom heritage, and creating sustainable livelihoods through stronger market connections and enterprise development.
