HPPI Celebrates World TB Day
World TB Day was celebrated across HPPI’s many project sites on 24th March. Project LEAD (Leveraging, Engaging and Advocating to Disrupt TB Transmission), Hyderabad conducted a wall painting activity in which children and adults collaborated to paint a community canvas depicting TB symptoms. This innovative community engagement activity of transforming walls into vibrant canvases for TB awareness not only raised awareness but also encouraged prevention and sustained knowledge dissemination, creating a lasting impact on public health. This activity transformed the Setwin Center Compound Wall and Rasulpura Basti Dawakhana Wall in CBN Nagar into community canvases.
Similarly, Project TASA (TB Affected Street Activists) and Project SWEET (Street Women Empowered and Engaged to Stop TB) organised events and raised awareness about TB, fostered community engagement and secured valuable support for ongoing TB prevention and treatment efforts particularly among vulnerable populations. These events were held at the bank of River Yamuna, Chilla Khadar and Sarai Kale Khan Night Shelter respectively. Understanding that art has immense power to motivate people for social change, HPPI commissioned artists to make artworks from our TB project site in New Delhi. The endeavour of these artworks is to capture the essence of suffering, empathy and cure.
HPPI’s Arogya Project in Kota and Baran districts of Rajasthan organised a TB awareness campaign across 26 villages. The project celebrated the month of March as TB Awareness Month. The project team, in collaboration with schools, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, Health Department, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, organised different TB awareness activities. These included awareness rallies, street plays and IEC material distribution in the community. The aim was to educate the community about TB, its transmission, symptoms, diagnosis and the treatment underlining the significance of timely intervention.
