Partnership with RIST to enhance learning levels in UP schools

Humana People to People India (HPPI) and Rural India Supporting Trust (RIST), continuing their partnership have entered into a new agreement aimed at improving the learning levels of the primary school students in India. Under the new project, Humana People to People India (HPPI) through its Kadam methodology and tools, in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, will focus on improving the learning levels in Government primary schools in 20 districts of the State. Simultaneously, the project also aims to work with the District Education Offices to enhance the efficacy of 2,400 teachers in approximately 600 schools over the 5-year project term.

Key value-added themes relevant to teachers and children in the present day, such as Health Education, Issues of the Girl Child, Combating Climate Change through Sustainable Development and STEM activities, are integral to the project.

In line with its consolidated approach at improving the learning levels of the students in schools, the project will also work towards enhancing the quality of Teacher Training in the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in six districts of the State. This will be achieved by providing tools for student-teachers to engage in a more hands-on self-driven training, as well as the establishment of ed-tech labs in these selected DIETs.

The project will also explore avenues collaborating with various ed-tech platforms to offer digital education certification to the DIET trainees (and existing school teachers as well, with permission of the State), which will enhance their skillsets and employability.
