DISHA Assam organises Skill and Business Information Fair in Tezpur
HPPI’s DISHA Project, Assam organised a three-day Skill and Business Information Fair in Tezpur (Sonitpur) during 25th-27th July 2024. Gautam Maitra (Director, Rural Self Employment Training Institute, Ministry of Rural Development) was the chief guest and inaugurated the Fair.
This event served as a platform to exhibit products crafted by women entrepreneurs who have received Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDP) under the Project. A total of 34 stalls including 4 from the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) and 3 from the Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) were built, showcasing a diverse range of products including handloom items, bamboo crafts, silk products, home decor and tea stalls. During these three days, products approximately worth Rs 155,800 were sold by the entrepreneurs. This fair provided the participants the opportunity to showcase their products, gain insights into market dynamics and network with relevant stakeholders for business enhancement.
The Project has provided 10,196 women intensive entrepreneurship and business development training; 1,683 women started their own businesses, 233 women expanded their existing businesses and 102 women started innovative businesses involving bamboo crafts, banana fibre products, pottery, seeds and bamboo jewellery etc.
Humana People to People India (HPPI) in partnership with Yes Foundation is implementing the DISHA Project in Jorhat, Bojali and Sonitpur Districts of Assam. The project underscores our commitment towards women empowerment and building resilience towards equitable and inclusive society.
