We can learn a lot from our surroundings and nature. Learning cannot be limited to ‘school hours’ and when we travel, see places and meet new people, we learn new skills. Education is one of the key pillars of development in a country and Humana People to People India’s education interventions aim to provide quality education to every child enrolled across our different projects. One way to ensure that students learn and expand their perspective about the world around them is exposure visits.

Recently, the students of Kadam Centre, Bhola Chowk in Panipat, Haryana travelled to Kurukshetra, for an educational tour. The students of the project, which is supported by Sympany, started their tour with a visit to the Mini Zoo. The students saw many animals and some children saw a real leopard and tiger for the first time in their lives. The trip also included a visit to the Kalpana Chawla Memorial Planetarium, the Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre, the Dharohar—Haryana Cultural Museum and the Sheikh Chilli Mausoleum. The tour was a big hit amongst all the students and they gathered immense knowledge along with having a lot of fun.

Similarly, another group of students and teachers from Samarth Girls under HPPI’s Community Development Project-Roz Ka Meo travelled from Sohna, Haryana to visit the Pink City of India—Jaipur! The students visited the Amer Fort, Jal Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and the Planetarium among other places and learned a lot through their interactions and experiences.

Providing students, the opportunity to step outside the classroom and travel can positively impact their learning and in HPPI’s projects, the educational tours have been a big success for both the teachers and the students.
